We can expect much more manageable temperatures going into this week, just in time for our final Garlic Mustard pull at Fox Hill. You may have noticed it has already stopped flowering, which means the Garlic Mustard seeds are ready to drop any day now. When the seed pods get brown and brittle they enter the stage called ‘seed shatter’ and can release up to 500 seeds per plant, according to UW-Madison Extension. We will be pulling and bagging these invasive plants to allow other native species to thrive in our woodlands.
When & Where: Thursday, June 26, 2025 from 9-11 AM. Parking is available in the gravel lot at 4214 Sleeping Dragon Road, West Bend, WI 53095, which is approximately half a mile east of Highway NN.
Bring: Work gloves and a water bottle.
Thank you all for your help so far this season in keeping our natural areas healthy and beautiful!
