September 25 | 9:00 am – 11:00 am
Happy fall! We are officially past the Autumnal Equinox, and fall is here to stay. This means it is an ideal time to start working on Buckthorn again! In fall, plants will begin to bring sugars down into their roots to store over winter, so when applying herbicide to the cut stumps, it has greater effectiveness in travelling down to the roots and preventing pesky resprouts. We will be continuing our work from last fall and winter at the Thoma Preserve, removing woody invasive species. These are all small enough we can cut with loppers.
When & Where: CLCF’s Thoma Preserve on Thursday, September 25th, from 9-11 AM. Parking is available on the mowed corner of Birchview Rd and County Highway Z, West Bend WI 53095. See map below. We will be working in the prairie side.
Bring: Please bring a pair of work gloves. Long sleeves and a bug net may be a good idea, given the uptick of mosquitoes after the rainy weather.
