Stew Crew

This summer has flown by so fast. The blooming goldenrod, which I always heavily associate with fall, is a sure reminder that we are entering the latter half of the summer. That being said, this is our last Wild Parsnip workday of cutting and bagging seedheads to prevent the seeds from dropping. We made huge progress last time, getting all the way from the prairie area out to Hillside Rd. I’ve never seen Parsnip growing so robustly in a shaded woodland, but the crew persevered and got it all cut. We’ll try to finish off the second population this week, which would be a great end to the Parsnip season this year.

When & Where: Thursday, August 13th from 9-11 AM at Fox Hill Nature Preserve. Parking is available at 4214 Sleeping Dragon Road, West Bend, WI 53095, which is approximately half a mile east of Highway NN.

Bring: Long sleeves and work gloves. Usual disclaimer that parsnip sap can cause burns if it gets on bare skin that is exposed to sunlight, so the long sleeves are a must.
