Walk & Talk: The Weninger Property

June 18 | 9:00 am 10:30 am

SAVE THE DATE! Join CLCF and Washington County Conservation Staff for a guided walk through CLCF’s Weninger Property. Get a firsthand look at and learn all about the newly constructed berms on the property, also known as Water and Sediment Control Basins (WASCOBs).

The berms are raised mounds of earth with a drainage system that run perpendicular to the slope. They slow down and temporarily store water as it flows downhill during rain events, which allows sediment to settle before the clean water is gradually released through underground outlets. The implementation of these berms was funded by the Natural Resources Conservation Service’s Environmental Quality Incentives Program, after the property was purchased in August 2024, with funding from Washington County’s Conservation and Heritage Grant Program and CLCF supporters.

CLCF’s Nature Series is sponsored by the Ziegler Family Foundation in Memory of R.D. Ziegler.
