Guidelines for Preserves & Trails
Natural Beauty, Clean Water, and Biodiversity
The Cedar Lakes Conservation Foundation (CLCF) is pleased to make its Open Preserves available for outdoor recreation in the scenic Cedar Lakes region. Because we have rare species and sensitive habitat areas on our Preserves, please stay on the trails and follow our trail etiquette guidelines:
Trail Etiquette
We encourage the following activities on CLCF trails:
- Walking and trail running
- Personal dog walking (remove all pet waste and keep dogs under control at all times)
- Nature study and photography
- Picnicking (carry in/carry out)
- Snowshoeing and cross-country skiing
- Please stay on trails to avoid wildlife disruption and habitat destruction
We do not permit the following activities:
- Camping, campfires or fires of any kind
- Hunting, fishing, trapping, or discharging of firearms
- Removal or alteration of flora, fauna, fungi, soil, rock, or wood
- Operation of non-motorized and motorized vehicles (including bicycles, ATVs and snowmobiles), with the exception of emergency vehicles, property maintenance vehicles authorized by CLCF, and power-driven mobility devices.
- Horses or horseback riding
- Smoking or use of drugs and/or alcohol
- Willfully disturbing any wildlife
- Dumping of any material, e.g., yard waste, asphalt, brick, concrete, construction waste, pet waste, Christmas trees, or household waste
Advance permission is required for:
- Organized group activities, including group hikes or after-dark activities. Call 262-353-4866 to make arrangements.
Be a good land trust neighbor!
- Help us to enforce the Preserve Etiquette described above. If you see something, please let us know.
