CLCF Nature Series: Kirk Johnson

Posted in Categories Activities & Events

On Thursday, April 10, 2025, CLCF launched its 2025 Nature Series with an evening featuring Kirk Johnson, paleobotanist, geologist, and Director of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History.

In his presentation, “The Eternal Battle of Ice and Trees,” Johnson explored the impact of the Ice Ages on Earth’s landscape. He also shared stories from his fossil exhibitions and fascinating information about the Smithsonian Museum.

The event was held at The Bend in downtown West Bend and drew nearly 300 attendees, a fantastic turnout!

CLCF extends its deepest gratitude to the Ziegler Family Foundation for generously sponsoring CLCF’s Nature Series in memory of R.D. Ziegler. Special thanks also go to Kirk Johnson for sharing his knowledge and experience, and to The Bend for providing such a great venue.
