CLCF Nature Series – West Bend Mutual Insurance Company’s Private Prairie Tour

Wednesday was a beautiful day to walk the private prairie at the West Bend Mutual Insurance Company. 56 friends gathered for the event at West Bend Mutual Insurance Company’s Prairie Center where the history of the magnificent prairie was discussed.
Rocky Dedrick, former President and CEO of West Bend Mutual Insurance Company, discussed his original vision for the land back in 1991. With the help of Marv Wolf and Ryan Amerling (and others), this vision has become reality.
Following the history talk, participants enjoyed guided tours of the prairie and were able to see compass plant, pale purple coneflower, false sunflower and purple prairie clover to name a few of the summer blooms that were present!
