We will be having another buckthorn chipping day this Thursday, similar to the one that took place last December. Buckthorn has been piling up fast at the Thoma preserve, so we are getting a head start on clearing the largest piles stacked along the road. We will be pulling this already-cut brush out of the woods and passing it to the professionals running the chipper.
When & Where: The Thoma Preserve on Thursday, June 19th. Parking is available on the mowed corner of County Highway Z and Birchview Rd, West Bend WI 53095. Chipping starts at 8:30, but we will be there all morning, so you are welcome to stay as much or as little as you’d like.
Bring: Ear plugs are helpful to block out the noise of the chipper. Safety glasses are also a good idea to keep any dust generated by the chipping out of your eyes. Please wear work/garden gloves, long pants and long sleeves- there is some poison ivy at this site to watch out for.
Hope to see you there and feel free to reach out with any questions!
